It is surprising that an educated Tamil like you can stoop so low as to
condemn fellow Tamils and support the Sinhalese. Please remember that
the Tamils had always been friends of India, and the Sinhalese had been
anti-Tamil and anti-India. Right now the Chinese have moved right up to
the north of Sri Lanka, facing Tamil Nadu. That doesn't seem to be of
any concern to your research. When Prabhakaran was controlling the Tamil
Homeland, the Chinese made no attempt to infiltrate into SL
During
all the wars India fought with its neighbours, Sri Lanka was against
India. During the Chinese invasion along the Himalayas, Sri Lanka
supported China. During both the wars against Pakistan, SL supported
Pakistan. When India banned overhead flights of Pakistani planes in
1970s, SL gave Pakistan fuelling facilities in Colombo. All these didn't
seem to bother you.
India
and China are two big countries in Asia. India was ruled by foreigners
for the past thousand years, before it regained it independence in
August 1947, while China retained its independence, right throughout its
history. Why? The Indians were so disunited that they invited the
foreigners to fight their fellow internal enemies. The invading Muslims
took advantage of this Indian attitude and gained a foothold in India,
when the Muslim commander Ghuri defeated Prithviraj Chauhan at the
Battle of Tarain in 1192. Instead of regrouping and driving the Muslims
out of India, the successive leaders came to terms with the Muslims. One
Rajput leader offered his daughter in marriage to Akbar and the Rajput
leaders became backbone of the Muslim army to fight fellow Hindus. Thus
the rest of India fell into Muslim hands.
The
same thing happened, when the Europeans took over India.
Joseph-François Dupleix, the French governor of Pondicherry from 1742 to
1754 made this observation. The Indian princess were often fighting for
the thrown. If the French support the weaker prince against the
stronger one and put him on the throne, the French could take control of
the state and its economy.
The
French government did not support this Dupleix Doctrine, but Robert
Clive, the head of the East India Company tested the Doctrine at the
Battle of Arcot in 1751 and soon took over Madras Presidency. Before the
end of the 17th century the British took over the whole of India. All
these were done with the help of the Indian tax payers and Indian jawans
(soldiers) at no cost for Britain. British Industries enriched
themselves with Indian raw materials and the vast market.
The
Chinese on the other hand were frequently at at war among themselves,
but when it came to foreign invasion they closed ranks and fought
against their enemy. The British tried the Indian style operation in
China with the use Indian tax payers' money and Indian jawans. The
Chinese unity was so tight that they had to settle for a few trading
outposts, like Hong Kong.
